First time in Belize, did not know Orange Walk area. Arrived about 4:15 PM met by Orlando de la Fuente. He showed us the first floor accomodations I had asked for and then gave us another choice upstairs. Room was comfortable, had a refrig., private bath, was newly decorated and a very good value for the expense. Looked around town and didn't see another property that was in as good a condition. Orlando directed us to the local Bakery...Yumm, grabbed up some extra goodies as the bakery doesn't open early enough in the morning to get fresh ones to go with coffee. That would have been nice. Wife Cyndi actually operates the hotel, she is very friendly and a pleasure.

The Hotel de la Fuente has the cleanist rooms and the best staff I've seen. The local streets are safe to wander around by yourself. Cyndi knows the area and can suggest trips you might not thing about that are excellent. P.J.

This place was right off of main street in Orange walk Belize.

The rooms were way above average even if you were just passing through. IT's more then a cozy stay there at a comfortable price.

The owners Cyndi and Orlando were great hosts to out of town travelers. Totally personable and very keen on making sure your stay there was nice.

Recommended some great restaurants in the area. Alos if you are going to book the Laminai Tour go through them. The boat to Laminai goes write from the hotel.

Hotel de la Fuente is a friendly, clean, comfortable, classy, and beautiful hotel! It provided the perfect location to relax and plan during two weekends of a 3-week service project in the Orange Walk area. Close access to the New River, Lamani, and the interesting Orange Walk town made our time there seem like a vacation, while the wireless internet connection allowed us to carry-out the necessary planning and contact home.

Orlando and Cindy were the most gracious of hosts, sharing many lenghty conversations with us in the lobby through which we discovered the best ways to experience Orange Walk and Belize as a whole. The remainder of the staff was equally helpful, even volunteering to watch our belongings one evening when we were unexpectedly in Orange Walk with nowhere to rest. Of course we knew we could turn to our friends at Hotel de la Fuente. The everpresent security makes stayers feel safe throughout their time at HDLF.

By the end of our stay, Orlando had even invited a tennis player from our group to play with his club, invited us to his home, treated us to a meal, showed us where to purchase the best hammocks, and explained the politics of Belize to us! Even a tenth of this hospitality would have made for an excellent stay! Hotel de la Fuente is an incredible hotel at an incredible price!

Please eat some of the complimentary sweet breads, bananas, and mangoes for me when you stay at Hotel de la Fuente.

My colleagues and I stayed at de la Fuente last summer, and it was fantastic. Besides the cleanliness of the rooms (perfect), great air conditioning, good internet access, laundry service and beautiful location, the staff was incredible. We met the owners only once, (very kind) but the rest of the staff was so incredibly helpful. They checked with us many times throughout our stay about where we would be eating, recommended great places, found us great deals, and stayed up late with us talking about our experiences. They felt like life long friends.
We were put up in this hotel by Rotary members, while working with Belizean teachers, and found the whole experience just amazing.

I have done a little traveling (151 countries) in the past 15 years and and have never come across a better hotel for value than Hotel De La Fuente in Orange Walk, Belize. No I am not kidding! In room amenities like TV, fridge, AC, coffee maker, and modern bathroom make staying here a very pleasant experience. Yes it is very clean, has very friendly, efficient staff, and Orlando and Cyndi, the owners, treat you like family. At least that is how I felt for the three nights I stayed there. They are genuinely concerned that you have an enjoyable stay in their hotel. And they accept credit cards. Although there is no restaurant, there are several a short walk away.
Cyndi and Orlando are extremely well connected throughout the area and can book tours to the Mayan ruin sites and just about anything else you can think to do. Cyndi makes all the arrangements and books all the tours. I told her what I wanted to do and she made it all happen. Now that was a relaxing vacation.
As you may know, Belize is a third world country, but has the charm of a very noble culture with much to offer the lucky tourists who venture there. When you visit Orange Walk, you already know where to stay, Hotel De La Fuente.

We stayed at the Hotel de la Fuente while on a school trip to Belize. Our group of 24 stayed for 5 nights and loved every minute of it. Cyndi and Orlando and their staff were warm and welcoming. They helped with booking tours and arranging breakfasts. The rooms were clean and comfortable with many ammenities. Their hospitality went far beyond our expectations. We highly recommend this hotel and hope to come back soon!

“We loved it!”

I agree with previous posts talking about the great value here! Orange Walk is not a popular stopping point yet, but after our stay at the Hotel de la Fuente, I can say that when I return to Belize, I would probably use it as a base to explore northern Belize. The rooms - spotless, satellite TV (big hit with our kids!), coffee maker and coffee (this is not common in Belize, a very nice touch!), maid service, hot water, AC, comfortable. The hotel itself is very nice, lots of tile, looks romantic! There are wraparound porches all around, great place to sit at night and listen to the frogs from the river. They are agents for Jungle River Tours (these guys get, and deserve, great reviews in the guide books!), which is convenient. There is free internet access for guests, and lots of books, maps, and advice for travelers. The best part of Hotel de la Fuente though, was the Fuentes themselves. Orlando and Cyndi looked after us so well, and in a genuine way, (I appreciate great customer service, and this was even better!), if that makes sense! We loved it! It's cheap, but you'll get way more than what you pay for.

Orange Walk: Hotel de la Fuente: "Best place to stay in Orange Walk"
Rikky22, Vancouver Island Jun 27, 2007

After riding the old school busses throughout Belize, Hotel de la Fuente was the perfect place for us to call home for our next six days in Orange Walk. We were a group of 9 students and 2 professors implementing a research appraisal for the friendly town. Since we were all backpackers, we were expecting budget accommodation (basics). We were all pleasently suprised, the owners greeted us right away and took us up the stairs to the beautiful hotel rooms. It was lovely to finally have air conditioning, which you will greatly appreciate in this hot, sweaty country:), we had two fans, beds were cleaned daily (although you did have the environmentally friendly option to have your sheets cleaned only when you requested) and hot and cold water:) Another bonus was also the complimentry bottled water that was supplied each morning. But above all, I would have to say that the owners Orlando and Cindy were the most hospitable people that we met while we were in Belize. On our last night there, the kind owners invited us over for a great bbq, and entertained us all night! We had a great time. I will never forget these people and I can not reccommend them enough! Enjoy

Orange Walk: Hotel de la Fuente: "More than just a hotel!"
Belikin, Chicago  Nov 15, 2006

I have been traveling to Belize for years, and in all my years of travel I have never found a cleaner, nicer, or more accomodating hotel than the Hotel de la Fuente. The rooms are wonderful and the staff makes you feel like you are part of family. Not only is there a coffee pot (with bottled water) in each room for those early mornings, but the lobby even has pasties and more coffee for its guest. The service at this hotel is unparalled from everything else I have seen in Belize. You can also get a great deal on trips to the nearby Mayan Ruins of Lamanai.

Oh yeah, with all the extra features of this hotel, I was blown away by the fact that the rooms are competivley priced, and often cheaper than other hotels that don't offer half as much per night.

Stay here, and you won't regret it!

Liked: I felt like I was in a nice hotel in the US
Disliked: Having to leave
Tips/Secrets: Get to know the owners! They are great people that know the area.

An Excellent Choice

The service of the Hotel is great. My wife, 10 month old son, and I stayed in the hotel for 2 nights in January, 2007. I emailed them for information prior to our arrival and received prompt response with the full price list of the different room with their amenities. You got a variety of choices from regular room to one with kitchenette to full kitchen. They have A/C, cable TV, DSL and wireless access, and coffee maker in each room. Price ranges from $27.5-$70 US depends on the room. They can also arrange for a tour of Lamani with Jungle Tours just down the street from the Hotel. AS we arrived the staff was very friendly and helpful with information about the town, local attractions, and restaurants. The rooms were spotless and with lovely decor. It is walking distance to the different restaurants and town centre. I will highly recommend this hotel to anyone and definitely will stay their again in our next stay, when our son is old enough to remember the vacation :)

Friendly hosts

My girlfriend and I included Orange Walk in our itinerary for the Lamanai tour only. We arrived Saturday evening from Caye Caulker and booked the tour for Sunday. Unfortunately for us there were no restaurants open on Sunday for breakfast. The owners, Orlando and Cindy de la Fuente were kind enough to invite us to their home for breakfast and we were still able to catch the 9 am tour to Lamanai. Breakfast was great! We had salbutes tapados which is a fried corn tortilla with ground pork inside, tomato sauce, shredded lettuce, and sour cream. Really delicious! They even played the piano and sang for us. I highly recommend this hotel if youre in the area. Great value for the price. Inquire about other snack stands that are open on Sundays

I am pleased to provide potential Orange Walk Town visitors information that will make their stay the best that it can be...I am a U.S. based field biologist that has worked in Orange Walk Town for the past 8 years. We frequently have guest scientists join us for studies and we choose Hotel de la Fuente for their lodging. The hotel staff are extremely friendly and accomodating to all of their guests needs (we request a late check-in on arrival and the owner gladly arranges a staff memeber to meet us at 11 pm in the lobby). The hotel is situated right in the main center of town giving you easy access to shops, grocery stores and market vendors. Rooms are large, clean, safe and provide all the comforts of home (AC, Cable-TV)with some suites equipped with a kitchen which is very convenient for longer stays. To top it off, there is free internet service to registered guests in the lobby and free continental breakfast every morning featuring coffee, tea, locally baked cookies and/or pastries and fresh Belizean fruit. I highly recommend Hotel de la Fuente for your hotel of choice while visiting Orange Walk.

Me and my husband stayed at Hotel de la Fuente at the beginning of our vacation in Belize and just loved everything about it. I had e-mailed Cindy from Italy to book a room, she answered very promptly and seemed very nice, didn't even ask for a deposit! My sensation was confirmed when we actually got there: Cindy and Carlos were just friendly and greeted us with very pleasant smiles.
The room was very confortable, daily cleaned, with AC, microwave and coffe maker which all made it really feel like "home". One of the he best quality-price we found in Belize!
During our Belize tour we recommended the hotel to all the people that were headed to Orange Walk!

After weeks of exploring the mainland of Belize, we were thrilled to
discover Hotel de la Fuente. Looking for some stateside comforts, we
checked several recommended hotels, and chose Hotel de la Fuente for
the immaculate, spacious rooms, quiet yet convenient location, free
internet access, delightful verandahs and rooftop palapa. The roomy
bathrooms, rich towels, complimentary coffee were oh so pleasant. The
time Orlando and Cindy spent with us, helping us find our way around
town and giving us legal and broker contacts for our real estate
purchase, was priceless. Bob, the night host, was equally acomodating.

Our month in Belize brought us to Hotel de la Fuente three times. We're
looking forward to our next visit, especially to seeing our Orange Walk
Belizean friends again.
